Just Updated
I've been working on moving the chat to Discord. I didn't post anything publically, because I was afraid it was something that Wikia Staff could come after me about. However, after having seen a MAJOR wiki post about them doing the same, I'm going to post about it here. Also, many other wikis are moving chat to Discord. Most posters on KAOS come from one of two wikis. Both of those wikis have unofficial chats on Discord and severely reduced activity in their wikia chat rooms. Soon, I will close the chat here. Come get the access coad for the chat on discord if you haven't already. Otherwise we'll have to meet somewhere like Central so I can PM it to you. Just ping me in chat here. Pingdaz. There's also separate chats for cursers and non cursers...
Pros to Discord
-less glitchy
-access to back chat
-access to PMs when people are offline-a plus when people aren't on much or are in say India and you're in the US
-ability to slice chat into channels for when it's busy
-voice abilities
-lack of chat widget previewing who is inside to anyone even blocked users is more private for people (this is a big one for me as I have a really bad cyberstalker problem with which Wikia staff flat out refused to help)
-protection from raiders, randos and socks because you need a code to get in
-pinning messages from live chat
Cons (and maybe some of this is there and I haven't just figured it out yet)
-learning a new site
-less customization
-no short term bans (I've heard it's permaban, kicks and that's it) would make it hard to discipline people that are basically ok but act up sometimes
-loss of extensive profile attached with a click, though Cube could make a bot where a link to people on here could be stored and retrieved with a command...
-not sure if there's a log to look up who kicks or bans users and could be an issue of power abuses
-less information in general-no tag for joining chat or going off and users show as active when they are active on any discord so they may not be looking at that chat. I haven't found any logs to look at actually.

People seem to be having a problem locating the rules.
Under the KAOS community tab, you find options for guidelines and leadership information-including the rules.
For describing users that know a programming language, which should we use?
See here:

to see where this would go
http://kaos.wikia.com/wiki/Challenge:_Picture_Painter
http://kaos.wikia.com/wiki/Challenge:_Recipe_Card
http://kaos.wikia.com/wiki/Challenge:_Flower_Grower
I can't do these yet because I'm not this far in intro to js. The first two need pics from a completed challenge, preferably cute versions. The last one needs more information.
The TOS tags that state:
☀All Khan Academy content is available for free at khanacademy.org
You will see that in the Editing Guidelines, I said, DO NOT ADD the http to it. I even made a video where I went to the KA page and showed myself copying and pasting the phrase from KA. I went through and made sure all of those look the same. Any edits that do this are going to get rolled back.
Khan Academy posted that they will be adding more exercises to their math mission. Changes will take place between now and August 15. Based on their list of subtopics they provided, the changes will effect math from high school and college, with possibly some changes in the middle school area. It does not appear that percentages in pre-k through 6th will be effected. However, I am just reading and attempting to interpret their materials, so I could be misunderstanding.
They will also be making Calculus missions specifically organized for high school AP students.
A thank you to our current user of the month, TJ, for bringing it to our attention.
Hey guys!
I need everyone's help. I'm trying to update KAOS with people's computer languages. Can everyone update the pages on you (and maybe your friends) with what computer languages you know? Also, can you add a line here and a line there on languages you know about? Think about it, editing, you're leaving a legacy behind.
Also if you need other things to edit. Check the user profiles. Make sure that if someone has a streak listed, update it. Make sure their number of programs with X votes are right and just make sure everything is right.... There are tutorial videos but they are for people on this wiki, not to be shared with people on a certain other wiki... you may get the link from me or most of our regulars should have it. (Do not share with users not on this wiki like HM, Tibet, LR, Trek and ES)
and we need things linked and tied together which is something people can help with even if they aren't knowledgeable enough to do content.
Also, the pages that have things that are borderline material on them from KA should have that
All Khan Academy content is available for free at khanacademy.org
It comes from section 7.5 of the ToS/ToU for KA which is at this link:
https://www.khanacademy.org/about/tos#7
and if that isn't clear, some screen shots to further clarify:
The chat ping for me has changed. You now ping me in chat with "pingdaz" and "pingvd" so I don't get pinged when people mention me.
I created tutorial videos that covered editing guidelines. No one watched them, so I am puting the guidelines onto a page as well.
TheViralSorceress had a good idea here:

From now on, that section should be "Sites with X lessons"
August 1st is approaching and we are taking nominations for emote of the month. User of the month has already been selected and will be announced in the next few days when change the front page. Just a reminder that the admin team selects the emote of the month and now that includes KCF.
If anyone has questions or comments you can leave them, but this is more of an announcement than discussion topic.
The Khan Academy version can be found here: https://www.khanacademy.org/computer-programming/which-programming-interface-color-do-you-prefer/6104745518170112 If you use KA, I recommend casting you choice there too.
Should we do "Khan Highlights" or "Khan Academy Highlights"
I believe GLY was putting them in as Khan Highlights. Also, whatever we as a community decide, it would be great if everyone helps to change them over together.
Resolution, even though the thread hasn't been open long, most people voted and everyone said Khan Academy not Khan, so from here forward, please change the user profiles over accordingly.
Just a head's up, yesterday, one of our founding admins-KCF returned from hiatus and said he would be willing to jump back in and start helping to maintain the CSS and JS for us. I re-promoted him. According to the new procedures, all promotions meant to be long term are supposed to go by the community. The way things are done on many wikis. A promotion or demotion is petitioned before the community and the user base responds with their stance:
Support
Neutral
Oppose
then they explain why. I will lead of with the first vote.
---
Ok guys it looks like enough people voted and this was open for 3 days. I am making KCF's temporary promotion to Admin an official promotion. From this point forward, for him to be demoted it may only be for the following reasons:
1) KCF's request
2) 6 months or more inactive
3) Community vote
I closed the chat room for now. KAOS is first and FOREMOST an information site about various online learning sites. We need articles on terms like programming languages. We also need any other terms related to subjects learned online and covered on KAOS. Some examples of term articles that we have up are CSS, HTML, and Curators. We also need pages on more online learning sites.
Here are the rules:
If a User is a member of the wiki prior to the 28th of the month before the featured emoticon, they may nominate one emote.
Admins choose the emotes from those nominated by the other users. They may not nominate an emote.
Emotes unavailable for nomination:
- Emotes selected to be featured within the last year
- Emotes that represent any individual that we know, this includes the Teeny emote
- Emotes that are not currently in rotation
Featured Emote of the month is starting for June of 2016. As the month has started, Dazzle will take nominations on chat or this thread until Midnight Eastern time. The Emote of June will be posted before 12 noon Eastern time on 6/5/16.
There's going to be a contest on Duolingo when the leaderboards reset for the week. Check out this link for more info!
I plan to keep the colors the same, but the eyeball is going. No one likes it. I'm not even sure if I like it. Does anyone have any input on the next look? How can I represent learning and incorporate it cleanly into the wiki. Right now, I plan on keeping the computer. I just want to replace the eye,
You may be wondering if you're at the right wiki! Things look a little different around here. Everything was changed, except the color scheme is basically the same.
Something good about it: the subjects drop down menu stays put.
Something bad about it: partner content isn't in the menu anymore.
Alright, time for everyone else to add some thoughts!
Scheduled for 12pm EDT, Apr 28, 2016.
Hi there,
Ever wanted to build a website from scratch? Join us Thursday, April 28th at 12PM EDT
for a live 30-minute coding session. We’ll walk you through how to combine HTML, CSS, and jQuery to build a fully functioning site.
When?
Thursday, April 28th at 12PM EDT (Noon)
What?
We'll be building Threadly, a website that lets you post status updates locally and see them appear on the fly. The project uses HTML, CSS and jQuery. We'll be building this locally from scratch, so make sure you have a code editor (check out our article on installing Sublime Text) if you want to follow along.
Why Should I Join?
A professional developer will take you through, step-by-step, how to build an interactive website with HTML, CSS, and jQuery. If you’ve started learning on Codecademy, this is a perfect opportunity to learn how to apply your skills.
Here's the link for the session tomorrow:
